Midia
Midia is my conceptual project for an app where members can connect and discuss their favorite movies, TV shows, and music. With a dedicated interface for each medium, this app allows you to share exactly what you’re currently into, what your friends have to say about the latest episode of their favorite HBO series, or what you’d recommend for them to watch in a heartbeat.
Designed with Adobe XD, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

1. Home Page Tabs
The HOME page is divided into two sections.
DISCOVER: The app’s landing screen. This tab displays films, reviews, and lists based on overall popularity outside of the your network.
NETWORK: Swipe here from the “Discover” tab, and the feed displays content based on activity from accounts that you follow..
2. Categories
Let’s say you want to watch something new, but you don’t know what. Depending on how you want to approach it on the main feed, you can either swipe through a list of trending movies, check out a list that goes with what you’re feeling, or find a review that’s just glowing enough to convince you. Click on one of the categories, and the feed changes to a drop down menu.
3 & 4. Cards
The most prevalent aspect of the app. Movie, review, and list cards each have their own respective look—and their sizes can change depending on where they’re placed. Most of the content you view on MIDIA is accessed by tapping on one of these.
Note: I originally considered implementing posters, which is what usually appears next to any film title in an app like this—but I liked the idea of letting the movies be represented by their own frames. Considering that there’s already precedent in having landscape icons for each film on streaming apps like Netflix, I went ahead and indulged in a little bit of form over function.
5 & 6. Browsing
You can find any film or cast/crew member through the search bar (5). Recent searches are available below the search options, and cast/crew members have their own profiles (6).
